Old School

Apropos of nothing...

We had a sort of lazy evening this past Sunday, so [livejournal.com profile] drangelo and I watched Old School on TV.  It was a cute movie, juvenile, but fun.  I checked it on IMDB yesterday just for kicks, and I got involved in reading about Pat Cranshaw, who played Blue.  Man, that guy has been in everything!  Sadly, he passed away last December, but take a look at his credits.

I mean, the guy was in Mars Needs Women fer crissakes!  (as well as every TV series known to mankind...)

The Women

I watched the original 1939 version of The Women last night on AMC.  I've never actually seen the play, but I really like this movie.  While watching last night, I realized that Norma Shearer looks like my mother did when she first married my Dad.  Here's a reasonable likeness.  I think she looks like a mix of my mother and my grandmother when they were in their early 20s.  Maybe it's something about the smirk.  ;)

The first time I was ever exposed to this piece, I was able to catch the last hour of the 2002 Stage on Screen production with Cynthia Nixon, Kristen Johnston, and Jennifer Tilly.  It was a freaking riot!  I need to get the play and read it, although I usually suck at visualizing while reading plays (unless the stage directions are included).

I feel so feminine today.  :)

EDIT:
Oh, and there's a rumor that they're working on a new version with Annette Bening, Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd, Meg Ryan, and Uma Thurman.  Hey, I'd watch it.
