Small Worldness

Last night, while working on OwlCon registration stuff (and, hey! go register before the good games are all filled!), I took a minute to peruse the LJers who had listed my high school in their user info.  I do this every so often in case one of my Nova High buddies has decided to create a journal.  Shut up.  You know you do it too!

While running down the list, I noticed a user who had a Big Bunny icon.  Thus intrigued, I read a bit of his data and found that he and his wife are gamers, living in Austin.  Coolness.  I sent him a message pimping mentioning OwlCon, and saying hello, and he was nice enough to write back.  We have since friended each other.

His journal is mostly friends locked, so I was able to read more about him this morning, including taking a glance at his friends.  Six degrees of separation time.  He's listed [livejournal.com profile] greeneyedpagan.  Hmm, says I, that userID looks familiar.  As it turns out, [livejournal.com profile] greeneyedpagan is a fiend of [livejournal.com profile] omorka, who is a friend of mine via [livejournal.com profile] follybard and Lager Rhythms.  The mind boggles.

And I have a new friend, [livejournal.com profile] khereva.  :)

Gadgets

I've been feeling the need to update some of my gadgetry.  Nothing phenomenally expensive in mind, just looking at my camera, mp3 player, and phone.  Right now I have the following:

Camera:  Canon S330 Digital Elph
I adore this camera.  The only thing I would like to improve here is a little more Mp, and addition of redeye reduction, which are included in all the new Elphs.  I really like the feel and size of the 330, and so I plan to stay with the Elph.  I'm looking at the 750, but I could be persuaded to go for another Elph model.

mp3:  iRiver iFP-700
I am very happy with this player, but I would like to increase my storage to 2GB.  The T-10 looks like a good match for me.

Phone:  Motorola E815
Meh.  I'm not unhappy with this phone.  Mostly I hate Verizon's user interface, and the way they lock their phones.  Unfortunately, they have great coverage and great sound, and I've had very good luck with their customer service, so I'm not looking for a switch.  I just want a cooler phone.  ;)  My two year contract is up, so I can get $100 off of my next phone with another 2 year contract.

Thoughts from the gadgeteers?
