Lager News
Aug. 17th, 2007 01:33 pmMany of you are probably aware that Lager Rhythms lost our last founding member, Laurie, after our last concert. Laurie had been in the group from its inception, lo, these many years ago. She felt burned out, and had some significant projects going on, so she needed to recapture some free time. No hard feelings...as long as she comes out to dinner with us every once in a while.
We really hadn't started any significant push to acquire a new alto. It's summer, and we're all pretty lazy once the weather heats up, or, I suppose, once the tropical depressions start coming on fast and furious, but we did hear about one possibility from
drangelo.
Well, we finally got off of our collective butts and brought her in for an audition. For the past two weeks we have been forcing this poor woman to perform all sorts of humiliating tasks, such as sitting in a tiny cramped room with insufficient AC, telling stupid jokes, laughing at our stupid jokes, and putting up with our many idiosyncrasies. Oh, and we asked her to sing. She was surprised at this request, but complied. What a good sport.
Please welcome Shai to Lager Rhythms! And now we are 8!! We will be scheduling an open mic as soon as we can teach her a few songs, just to get her feet wet. We may or may not let the date slip out to a few fans in case they want to be the first to see our new alto. You'll just have to deal. :)
