Dressed for Success
Mar. 11th, 2008 12:50 pmWhew!
A few years ago I was given a suggestion to "dress more like the Directors and VPs with whom I often come into contact." I took that to heart, and had a friend take me out to buy a more mature wardrobe. At the time, it was not easy, as I was a good 60 pounds heavier, but we made do. (Do not get me going on my "no nice clothes for heavy women" rant. You have been warned.) Now, I have nice clothes, and I usually wear them to work, although I have been slacking off a bit, and wearing jeans on Thursdays as well as Fridays, if I don't have any meetings on the Thursday in question.
This morning I looked into the closet and considered wearing something a little on the casual side, as I did not recall having to see anyone important, but I decided on what is actually one of my more formal suit-like things instead. It had been a while since I wore it, and it called to me. ;)
This afternoon I have a two hour training session in front of my VP, some of his direct reports, my boss (director level) and all of his direct reports (upper level managers). I put the materials together last week, and so actually making the presentation kind of slipped my mind.
Whew!
