I spent the last three days in a negotiations class. Mostly this training was meant for internal negotiations, so we were being directed toward collaborative negotiation, which is where I work naturally anyway, but we also spent a day on competitive negotiation. It was pretty interesting, and, in several areas, even enlightening.

We also spent a good deal of time on the Meyers-Briggs personality types from the standpoint of how they tend to negotiate, as well as how they react when under pressure. That part was pretty interesting as well as surprising. I consistently place as an ENTJ, however, I used to be closer to the center between T and F, where now I am farther toward the T. Surprisingly, it looks like I have moved farther toward the center of the P vs J scale. Perhaps it comes of living with [livejournal.com profile] drangelo. ;)

The information regarding how ENTJs react under pressure, what Jung calls "functional preferences," was something I had not previously been exposed to, and I found it intriguing. Apparently, when ENTJs stress out, they go into an introverted Feeling mode. That makes so much sense it actually made me laugh out loud when I read about it. Yeah, I'm an E, but stress me out and I'm going to crawl into my cave and sulk.
