[livejournal.com profile] hsapiens tagged me for this and, since I've never been tagged for a meme EVER, I figured it would only be polite to respond.  ;)

So, here is my list of "seven songs I'm listening to and really enjoying, no matter how embarrassing."

  1. Skullcrusher Mountain - Jonathan Coulton  (if you haven't been listening to JC, well... you need to)

  2. Stupidity Tries - Elliot Smith (taken from us too damned soon)

  3. Fast As You Can - Fiona Apple (I was introduced to this by our newest bass in LR)

  4. You Must Meet My Wife - A Little Night Music (throw out Send in the Clowns and this show is fabulous)

  5. There'll Be No Next Time - Louis Prima (it's actually Sam's song, and it's really not PC, but I can't help loving it)

  6. Buona Sera - Louis Prima (classic Louis)

  7. Daria - Cake

In addition to those already tagged, I would like to hear from [livejournal.com profile] follybard, [livejournal.com profile] drangelo, [livejournal.com profile] drelmo, [livejournal.com profile] hwrnmnbsol, [livejournal.com profile] paleogrrl, and [livejournal.com profile] a_dodecahedron.

If you like Louis Prima, I assume you've seen the movie "Big Night", yes? If not, go get it. Now. Seriously.

I second that; it is a fine, fine movie. I don't know who Louis Prima is, though. That movie started my lifelong inability to tell Tony Shalhoub and Stanley Tucci apart.

Louis Prima is the musician who is to be the guest of honor at the meal prepared by the brothers.

And what you said is funny to me, because this is the movie that taught me how to tell them apart. :)

I think before that movie I was only vaguely aware of either of them, if that. Big Night taught me that Tony Shalhoub was the one with the huge mustache. Fat lot of good that did me - he doesn't always have a mustache!

Tony Shaloub tends to play hang-dog type characters - his character on "Wings" (Antonio?), Monk, the stoned engineer in "Galaxy Quest". Stanley Tucci tends to characters with a bit more of an arrogant air - Puck in the Michelle Pfeiffer/Kevin Kline "A Midsummer Night's Dream", his role in "The Devil Wears Prada", etc.

I own it on VHS. Liz, tell me if you wanna borrow.

It is the reason I will never open a restaurant.

I hadn't thought of that, but, yeah, it certainly contributed to my decision not to go to culinary school. Reading "Kitchen Confidential" helped a lot, too.

Let me check to see if our VCR works. Durned old-style technology. :(

Never heard of it. But I just looked it up on imdb and it looks cute.

And I love Tony Shalhoub.

Never heard of it.

But...I...*splutter*...

Okay, you MUST watch this film. The interaction between Tony Shaloub and Stanley Tucci is some of the best on film. Ever. And the food...oh, the food...

Great, great film, which I seriously need to buy on DVD at some point.

Please tell me you've at least seen The Impostors (most of the same cast) . . .

Have I mentioned that I almost never see movies any more?

FTR, tagging me for a meme is very slightly more productive than relying on me to seduce the person you need distracted in your cunning plan to infiltrate the Ukrainian embassy.

So you get Cal Smith's "Country Bumpkin", Little River Band's "Help Is on Its Way", "Sail Away" by the Oak Ridge Boys, and "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who. Knock yourself out with the revelatory content.

That answer itself was totally worth it. :)

I bask in the warm embrace of your approval.

Now, am I affecting a wearied, cynical tone, or a sincere tone? You'll never know.

Did I mention I saw Johnathan Coulton live? With Paul and Storm from Davinci's Notbook, no less! It was a very fun show.

And did I mention that I am now totally jealous?

Oh, and I don't Tag or respond to Tags. Sorry.

Obviously it's time for us to start our goat farm in Montana.

But it sure is cold...maybe we'll wait for spring.

Yes, yes you did. And you can stop reminding me now so that I can stop hating you in my jealous rage.
