Know any good duets?

My sister-in-law is getting married next Valentine's Day, and she has asked that drangelo and I sing at the wedding. We're looking for song suggestions that would be appropriate for alto/tenor and would sound good a cappella.

First thing that springs to mind is "For the Beauty of the Earth", which I made Parth and Rob sing a cappella at my wedding. :) Might be more goddish than what you're looking for, though.

Are you looking for something classic? Conteporary? Sacred? Secular? Or just anything that might be appropriate?

What about "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles? I'll bet you could do something interesting with it (although, again, it might be improved if you happened to have a whole string section hiding out somewhere)....

...okay, so it's probably worth noting that most of your typical "wedding songs" make me want to poke out my own eardrums with a sharp stick. I've just been glancing through my library, and here are the love-ish songs that jump out at me so far:

"The Luckiest" - Ben Folds
Would be better with a piano, although you could probably work out something a cappella. However, perhaps not everyone would agree that a song that mentions people dying is the best choice for a wedding.

"Do You Realize??" - Flaming Lips
Might be challenging to do justice to it a cappella, since one of its selling points is the string section. Also, see note above about mentioning people dying. Apparently I consider this a desirable feature in love songs.

"Under Your Spell" - the Buffy musical
Is sister-in-law a Buffy fan or a lesbian? Then this would be PERFECT.

"Wond'ring Aloud" - Jethro Tull
It's always been one of my favorite tracks on "Aqualung". Possibly a weird choice for a wedding, though (even though nobody dies in it).

I've got lots of classical ideas, but I'm guessing that won't help. I've sung Sunrise, Sunset at a couple of weddings, which would work very well as a duet. I just sang One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story at my brother's wedding which would also be beautiful as a duet with minimal tweaking.

While I do have some high parts to my range, I am most comfortable in the alto/mezzo part of it, and "One Hand, One Heart" only gets too high for me in a couple of places that could easily be transposed down.

Though I have a hard time imagining it as a good choice for a wedding song, given the context. :)

One song I've gotten really into lately that is less a duet and more a chance for voices to harmonize interestingly is "Lullaby" by the Dixie Chicks. The lyrics are SO beautiful, and would be a great choice for a wedding. "How long do you want to be loved? Is forever enough, is forever enough?"

I think a duet that would convert well to a cappella would be the Huey Lewis/Gwyneth Paltrow duet, 'Cruisin'. Good harmony, doesn't rely on the instrumentals, a nice lovey love song without explicitly saying WE'RE GOING TO SHAG LIKE MONKEYS WITH HEATSTROKE, which wouldn't be appropriate at a wedding, or rather any weddings I've gone to.

I suppose I shouldn't suggest either "Yeah, Oh Yeah" by the Magnetic Fields or "Titties and Beer" by Frank Zappa. But in my defense, they are both duets.
